In this painting, I aimed to convey the harmony and tranquility characteristic of Japanese minimalism. This work, created with acrylic on canvas, is the fourth in my series "Dreams of Japan." I chose to depict a snail slowly crawling on a branch of a blooming cherry blossom tree as a symbol of patience and the slow passage of time. For me, the snail embodies those moments when we delve into reflection, emphasizing the importance of cherishing each moment.
The warm shades of yellow create an atmosphere of coziness and calm, filling the viewer with light and positivity. The white cherry blossoms blooming against this backdrop remind us of the beauty of nature and its imperfections. I used Japanese characters to add a poetic touch—my haiku "the snail crawls slowly, as if the days apart from you" serves as a personal expression of the emotions I experience.
The style of the work embodies a simple yet profound approach to art, where form yields to content, and every detail becomes significant in creating a holistic perception. I hope that viewers can feel the same beauty and contemplativeness that inspired me to create this painting.
