I am delighted to present my new painting titled “Heron on the Edge of Light.” In this piece, I aimed to capture the grace and elegance of the white heron standing by a calm body of water. Each brushstroke was thoughtfully crafted to highlight the bird's beautiful form, which seamlessly merges with the surrounding world.
The background is painted in gentle aqua tones, evoking a sense of peace and tranquility. I added a bold, bright orange-red circle that symbolizes either the sun or the moon, emphasizing the contrast between stillness and vitality in nature. This vibrant element envelops the painting like light cradling the heron, poised at the edge of time and space. Tall reeds rise on the right side of the canvas, adding depth and framing the scene, creating a sense of solitude.
At the top of the composition, I placed a vertical column of Japanese calligraphy that features my haiku: “The heron stands still, The sun is frozen in the water, Only time flows.” This poetic addition brings a cultural element and inspiration from the East. I hope this artwork conveys not only the beauty of nature but also infuses a bit of Japanese philosophy and meditation into your life.
